Shortly after 5:10 PM, while clearing another call in Upper Merion Township, Swedesburg Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched as mutual aid to Bridgeport Fire Department for a reported building fire on the 1000 Block of Dekalb St. Squirt 56 and Rescue 56-3 responded at dispatch. First arriving units encountered a fully involved vehicle and trailer under an overhang of a car dealership. Upon Squirt 56 and Rescue 56-3’s arrival, crews began assisting with fire suppression. Traffic 56 and Marine 56 also responded to assist with traffic control and additional manpower. The fire would go to two alarms before being placed under control. Two people were injured and transported to an area hospital. 19 Members assisted for multiple hours with overhaul, traffic control, and refilling of SCBA cylinders. Swedesburg cleared the scene around 11:00 PM.
