Members have been kept busy with a steady amount of calls and spring cleaning around the firehouse this weekend. Saturday calls included a fire alarm, small vehicle fire and two reported dwelling fire responses to name a few.
Sunday was steady again with calls for a medical assist, a fire alarm and another two dwelling fire responses, these were more notable. Shortly before 3:00 PM a dwelling fire was dispatched in the Village of Swedeland of Upper Merion Township. Squirt 56, operating as the Township Duty Crew, responded at dispatch with a crew of five. Rescue 56-3 responded shortly after with a crew of six. The cause for the smoke was a box left inside an oven, the incident was quickly held to both units out of Swedesburg to assist with ventilation. An additional six members were back at station for a total of seventeen personal that responded!
Later in the evening, Squirt 56 responded to another dwelling fire, this time in Norristown, again with a crew of five. 27 units had a dryer fire that had extended into the laundry room. Squirt 56 arrived and staged to establish a water supply. The crew assisted with ventilation and securing utilities before being released. This is the sixth working fire of the year that members have operated at. |
