This weekend members worked with the American Red Cross in the Sweet Briar area of the township doing another Smoke Detector Blitz. Members helped install 119 smoke detectors in the area which undoubtedly will save lives and make Upper Merion safer. Shortly before 3am Swedesburg Fire Company was dispatched to Bridgeport Borough for a structure fire that was upgraded to a 2nd alarm fire. Upon arrival Squirt 56 secured another water supply and supplied Quint 54. Squirt 56’s crew assisted with checking for extension, ventilation, and over haul. It’s been a busy start of the week for the Men and Women of Swedesburg. So far, the company has responded to 15 calls and attended one event since Sunday evening. Calls have included numerous trash fires, reported building fires and fire police needed, to name a few.

This past Wednesday Chief Recupido accepted a BCA Grant that was awarded to the Company. The Board of Community Assistance was established in 2013 through a partnership between Upper Merion Township and the Valley Forge Casino Resort.
